The three bomb groups that composed the 40th Combat Wing are holding a reunion and tour from 20-30 May 2009. World War II members and their families from the 92nd Bomb Group (Podington), the 305th Bomb Group (Chelveston) and the 306th Bomb Group (Thurleigh) will be arriving for a unique tour and reunion.

The reunion is being hosted/coordinated by the UK members of the 305th Bomb Group Memorial Association. Assistance is being provided by counterpart associate members in the UK and officers of the respective bomb group associations.

We will be staying at the Swan Hotel, Bedford (left), well known to Fame's Favored Few for over 60 years.

Get togethers include the welcome reception, the 40th Combat Wing celebration dinner, farewell banquet and Memorial Day breakfast (as well as two afternoon teas and seven lunches).

Tours will be offered to


the Woburn Abbey and Woburn Safari Park


          the Shuttleworth Vintage Aircraft &
          Motor Vehicle collection
RAF Hendon          


Kings College

Cambridge

and

the famous wartime Eagle Pub of Cambridge City.


Highlights include

- the 40th Combat Wing Day at the 306th Bomb Group Museum, (former home of 40th Combat Wing)

- visits to the Groups'Memorials

- a visit as VIP guests at the American Armed Forces Day-Madingley Military Cemetery

- evening civic receptions and

- remembrance services.
