As Bob was doing his preflight inspection of the airplane, the crew chief came up to him and said, "Lieutenant, I feel I must tell you that no plane ever came back from this hardstand from its second mission. This is this plane's second mission from this hardstand."

"I replied, being young and invincible, that today we would change that record. However, as I took off, I looked down at the field and wondered if I would ever see it again. To date I have not been back..."
